Monmouth County, in collaboration with the Township of Neptune, the Boroughs of Neptune City, Bradley Beach, and Avon-By-The-Sea, along with the NJTPA, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), will host a public information meeting on safety improvements for Memorial Drive (CR 40A) between State Highway 33 and State Highway 35.Key elements of the project include but are not limited to:
- Converting Memorial Drive from a four-lane roadway to a three-lane configuration.
- Adding bike lanes in both directions.
- Upgrading existing traffic signals and installing a new signal at 4th Avenue.
- Installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at 11th Avenue.
- Improving curbs, sidewalks, and pavement throughout the project area.
The project is currently in the design phase and is funded for construction through the FHWA's Highway Safety Improvement Program. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with County engineers and project consultants, ask questions, and provide feedback.
