About the NJTPA
The NJTPA partners with local and state agencies to help fund more than $3 billion in transportation investments annually and provides a forum for interagency cooperation and public input. It also sponsors and conducts studies, assists county planning agencies and monitors compliance with national air quality.

Unified Planning Work Program
The Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) summarizes and guides the transportation planning activities of the NJTPA staff, its member agencies and other transportation agencies in the region. It covers activities to be completed in the next one to two years and is updated annually.

Metropolitan Area Planning (MAP) Forum
Laws and Regulations
The NJTPA ensures North Jersey benefits from the Act's funding for road, rail, and bridge improvements. Projects must be approved by the NJTPA Board for the region's TIP to qualify for funding. The NJTPA follows Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and federal non-discrimination policies, prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
