Overview
The Bridge Street Bridge connects the City of Newark and Town of HarrisonAdditional Details
The public is invited to come learn about potential alternatives for the Bridge Street Bridge, which connects Newark and Harrison over the Passaic River, that were developed as part of a local concept development study.
Essex County and Hudson County are conducting the study to addresss the bridge's structural deficiencies and maintain an important transportation connection for residents and commuters who travel to and from Newark's downtown business district and residential complexes. Due to its age, the bridge has deteriorated over time and routine maintenance can no longer address the deficiencies.
This Local Concept Development Study, funded by the NJTPA, is the first step to bridge improvements. The study team had developed several altenratives for replacing or rehabilitating the bridge, which will be presented to the public. Of those options, a preferred alternative will be selected to advance to the next phase.
