Additional Details
Walk the future Glen Ridge segment of New Jersey’s newest state park with DEP staff who are leading the transformation of this former rail corridor into reclaimed, vibrant public green space in the state’s two most densely populated counties. Along the way, volunteers will help remove litter and other illegal dumping found throughout the area. Trash pickers and garbage bags will be provided.
Advance registration is required to participate as the cleanup is limited to 30 participants. If the event is full, email parks@dep.nj.gov with the subject line "Glen Ridge Waitlist" to request a spot on the waitlist if space becomes available. In the event of adverse weather, participants will be notified by email if the event is postponed or canceled.
What to Wear: Closed-toe shoes are required to participate in this event. Sunscreen, water, bug spray, work gloves, and long pants are recommended. Some portions of the cleanup may involve passing through tall grass or other vegetation.
Information displayed during the visioning session comes from the park’s Vision & Action Plan, released in January. During the session you will learn about New Jersey’s newest state park and the DEP’s plan to connect eight communities, enhance regional environmental quality and create a nine-mile linear, multiuse corridor that supports walking, biking and other forms of active transportation.
