Rutgers University’s Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) is celebrating its 25th anniversary year with a Symposium entitled: Investing in transportation infrastructure to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.
The event will be held on May 5, 2023 from 9:00 am until 3:15 pm at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy in New Brunswick, NJ. The tentative agenda for the Symposium includes:
an opening keynote address from Kris Kolluri, CEO of the Gateway Development Commission, on the Region’s Gateway Program;
a morning panel discussion featuring FHWA Executive Director Gloria Shepherd, Maryland Secretary of Transportation Paul Wiedefeld, as well as Robert Skinner and Thomas Deen, who both served as executive director of the Transportation Research Board;
the dedication of a permanent legacy exhibit commemorating the life accomplishments of Alan M. Voorhees, including the many contributions he made in the fields of transportation planning and engineering. During the lunch break there will be tours of the exhibit which was installed on the 4th floor of the Bloustein's School Civic Square building in downtown New Brunswick, NJ;
an afternoon keynote address from Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, Commissioner of the NJ Department of Transportation (invited); and
a closing panel that will explore how a how a transformative vision for infrastructure investment, supported by the Infrastructure Investment and Job Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) can address these and other challenges facing New Jersey and the nation.
