A resilience hub is a multi-functional place crucial to providing community support and offering services and resources before, during, and after extreme weather events.
Resilience Hubs – A Community Roadmap provides a roadmap to create a resilience hub in six steps, a toolkit with a collection of resources for providing and funding emergency and ongoing services, and case studies of resilience hubs across the country. Ultimately, this guide is intended to help municipalities that wish to increase their ability to withstand and bounce back from extreme weather events through the implementation of these community-serving centers.
The Community Roadmap to Creating Resilience Hubs has six steps:
- Build the Team
- Assess Community Vulnerabilities and Needs
- Engage Additional Team Members
- Select the Site
- Reinforce Structures and Invest in Capital Improvements
- Implement and Maintain Operations
The NJTPA developed this guide in collaboration with the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) at Rutgers University.
