Overview

Many communities have adopted safety plans, identified priority locations, and established ambitious goals.

The challenge is determining what comes next. This session will focus on practical implementation strategies that local governments can use to organize their efforts, identify achievable priorities, and begin making safety improvements. Topics include creating effective safety committees, selecting projects, coordinating with partners, engaging the public, and using quick-build and interim improvements to address safety needs while pursuing longer-term solutions. Participants will also learn about the pilot-to-permanent approach and resources available to support local implementation.

This webinar is part of a series of trainings being offered through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Advancement Program.

This series of webinars will help municipal and county practitioners, transportation professionals, elected officials, and community stakeholders advance transportation safety improvements in their communities. Participants will learn practical approaches for organizing implementation efforts, prioritizing projects, engaging stakeholders, applying low-cost safety treatments, and moving projects from concept to implementation. Sessions will draw on examples from communities across North Jersey and provide opportunities for discussion and peer learning.
