Local Transit Grants

NJ TRANSIT’s Office of Local Programs and Community Mobility provides grant opportunities for local shuttle services, planning projects, and the purchase of capital equipment to help community transportation providers fill service gaps in service. The NJTPA assists NJ TRANSIT in the selection of these grants.

Safe Routes to School

The Safe Routes to School Program (SRTS) is funded through the Federal Highway Administration’s Federal Aid Program and is being administered by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), in partnership with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA).

Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside

The Transportation Alternative Set-Aside Program is funded through the Federal Highway Administration’s Federal Aid Program and is administered by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), in partnership with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA).

CMAQ Program

The Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Program is supported by federal funds allocated to the NJTPA region and advances readily implementable and innovative projects and services that improve air quality and reduce congestion in the NJTPA’s air quality maintenance and non-attainment areas.
